The 2012 Midland Ministries Invitational Bible Quiz Tournament was fantastic. Great competition, super spirits, lots of smiles, not a few tears...Surprises in championship results...
Many of these teens will continue studying and practicing for the Bible Quiz Fellowship National Tournament to be held in Wisconsin Dells in late April.
I'm stunned I've been privileged to be involved in this exciting, fulfilling, meaningful program for over three decades.
After the tournament the Hagers zoomed over to the reception for the wedding of the daughter of one of our best friends:
The Colorado/Nebraska Team "CALLED" surprised many by finishing in 2nd place!
Festivities and Lights at the Reception
Oops...wanna guess what this is? Leave a comment...
Janelle, Jane, Lenis, Debbie and Jacob...Lenis and Debbie are as close
to sisters as I've ever had..it was Debbie's daughter's wedding
Bowing as a team before intense competition...
And the winner is: The Midland team "REDEMPTION"...
Many quizzers ended up with trophies...most of which will end up, at best,
in a box in an attic....but thousands upon thousands of verses of God's living Word
were hidden in hearts and minds...and God's Word does God's Work
And here is the third place Midland team, "MESSENGERS"
Thoughts, quotes, book reviews, rants, a bit of preaching from one who aspires to be the oldest Christian youth worker in America by serving the Light of the world.

Another Regional Bible Quiz Tournament!
Last week I was honored to be in Washington state helping with the Teens For Christ North West Regional Bible Quiz tournament...it was delightful, a tremendously wonderful time that ranks way up there on "favorite quizzing event ever (and that entails over 30 years)...
Last night (Friday) started the Midland Ministries Regional Bible Quiz tournament in Saint Joseph, Mo. Fifteen teams from six states (if I'm counting correctly) are competing. They each quizzed six times tonight, and tomorrow (Saturday) morning will quiz all day until only three teams are left...and they will quiz for the Championship.
Here's some pics:
Midland staffer Andrew Johnson has something to say:

Where 2 or 3 teens are gathered...there must be food

On March 20 I posted an article on my Facebook page that I found interesting.
Others found it interesting...or infuriating...or perplexing...
It spawned a sometimes intense "discussion" (as much as can be experienced via the internet)...
I recognize that some who read this blog or my tweets do not "Facebook," so I reprint it here from the opening post to my last quote that I put in at 2.30 this Thursday afternoon.
Dive in if you dare:

I was taught that if someone doesn't know the date on which they were saved there must be something wrong. I didn't buy it then; don't buy it now. As I've been known to say, my testimony should not be "history," but rather "current events." Here's a great article on the subject:http://www.bpnews.net/BPFirstPerson.asp?ID=37430
