Some "Christians" Should NOT Witness

Had an interesting Amtrak ride from Rochester, NY to Kansas City, Mo, arriving more than three hours late early this morning (like 1.30), primarily due to the death of a passenger that resulted in a loooong delay awaiting coroner. Apparently an older woman with a "Do Not Resuscitate" bracelet...

Had a woman sitting across from Janelle and me who, in introducing herself to another woman, said, "I am minister so-and-so..."

She then treated everyone, from Amtrak staff to fellow passengers as if they were born to cater to her every need and whim. Occasionally she would throw in a "Jesus" or "Lord," and I'm convinced did harm to the cause of Christ and His Kingdom.

None of us are perfect (the paradox is that as we grow in Christ we also grow in awareness of how sinfully sinful we are!), but if we aren't at least trying to "esteem others as better than ourselves," it would be good for us to zippeth our lip about our relationship with Christ.

Have you had any similar experiences?

Wow. What a ride. Uhm, yes I have had experiences with people I wish had followed the "Zipeth your lips" rule about sharing their "faith" in Christ. It brings me great grief when people bring harm to the testimony of Christ and to other believers. Why can't people get the fact that it's not about us?!!!

I've been in that situation a number of times in different travels, and find it adds an extra challenge but sometimes an extra OPPORTUNITY to clarify to people around (usually a conversation they open themselves by complaining) what the gospel is really about, as opposed to the bad portrayal they're receiving. Maybe that person isn't even saved - but that discussion is not worth having with those who certainly aren't - so several times I've used it as an opportunity to point out that Christianity isn't about rules and being goody-goody and most of us don't profess to be perfect, but our Jesus is, and His sacrifice was.
