It is mysterious how anyone could write the words to a song like this without knowing the Lord...
I do not know Kris Kristopherson. I know he was a helicopter pilot; had heard that he was in Nam, but on further investigation find he left the army in 1965 and, at least in the checking I was able to do, did not go to Viet Nam (nor, unlike some, did he ever claim to have gone..)
I don't concur with a lot of his political views.
But I resonate with this old song.
And still wonder how he could write it if he is not a believer (and I don't know either way).
