New Year's Greetings

My (much) older brother sent this out, says he heard it often from our grandfather (who I never met):

"May the very best of this year,
Be the very worst of next year."

    That's very similar to something that was said to me at the time of our wedding:

    May the brightest days of your past be the darkest days of your future.
